HDCAM offers premier quality output on Standard Definition budgets and is rapidly becoming accepted as the preferred format among broadcasters. It is ideal for television documentaries, station idents, pop promos, dramas, news or commercials requiring an ultra polished finish.
With 2.2 million pixels per CCD on an FIT chip, HDCAM allows greater flexibility to match the creative preferences and production needs of any producer or organization, putting all the advantages of shooting on High Definition into the hands of the programme maker, maximising creative opportunities and control without sacrificing portability or battery life. The HD Camera can record at both 50i/60i (interlaced) for a conventional look or shoot at 23.98/24/25/30p (progressive) to give your television productions a prestige, ‘filmic’ motion portrayal that can add a subjective richness to improve both the quality and marketability of your production. The choice is yours.
The lightweight, yet robust and reliable construction of the HD CAM series makes it easier than ever to capture pictures that will satisfy the most exacting director. High quality still pictures can be taken from HDCAM as High Definition has a resolution four times greater then its nearest format rival. The choice for HDCAM is obvious. Simon Fuller's Pictures can arrange a playback machine for reviewing, down converting and digitising.
It is easy to transfer HDCAM rushes for low cost off-line editing in Standard Definition or alternatively HDCAM can be edited in a native totally lossless environment.
Strict broadcast guidelines govern the use of “up res” High Definition material. Broadcasters want to be in total control of the use of inferior HDV and SD material therefore putting limits on non High Definition material. For superior picture quality the choice is obviously High Definition.
Companies looking to maximize their repeat factor and sales revenue through the on sale ability of programmes will be best severed using HD as the picture quality lasts longer.
